Membership

Membership is by application only and is limited to qualified individuals eligible to serve as Guardians ad Litem in the Superior Courts of the State of Georgia, as contemplated by Uniform Superior Court Rule 24.9. Membership is open to both licensed attorneys and non-attorneys; however, applicants who are not licensed attorneys are required, pursuant to our bylaws, to submit a referral letter from a Superior Court Judge in the circuit in which the applicant intends to serve. The referral letter must state that the judge is familiar with the applicant’s qualifications, that the applicant understands the roles, duties, and responsibilities of a Guardian ad Litem (GAL), and that the applicant is qualified to be trained as a GAL in accordance with U.S.C.R. 24.9.
