The 2025 Training & Conference - What to Expect

Expert-Led Presentations and Panels discussing the issues facing Guardians ad Litem practicing in the Superior Courts of Georgia. 

Advanced and Basic Trainings to elevate your skills as a Guardian ad Litem in the Superior Courts of Georgia.  

Topics for Basic Training - The role of the Guardian ad Litem, the investigation, identifying issues, ethical consideration, cultural diversity and socio-economic differences, high conflict parenting, domestic violence, substance abuse and mental health issues, writing the report and testifying in Court. The basic training meets the requirements of U.S.C.R. 24.9.

Topics for Advanced Training -  Look forward to a dynamic agenda covering timely and relevant topics to support Guardians in their vital work, including cutting edge information about Artificial Intelligence—its practical uses, benefits, and potential pitfalls for Guardians ad Litem.

Networking and collaboration with colleagues and experts in high conflict custody litigation. Share your insights and learn from the experiences of others.

Enjoy local amenities and opportunities to relax and enjoy Savannah's charm through optional activities, such as a classic Savannah Ghost Tour, a trolley ride through the Historic District and all the other wonderful amenities Savannah offers.

This training is designed for Guardians ad Litem assisting the Georgia Superior Courts in domestic custody cases.  You must be a member of the Georgia Guardians ad Litem, Inc. organization to attend its annual conference and training.

  • *TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
    The Basic Training will cover the required topics for eligibility to serve as a Guardian ad Litem, as set forth in U.S.C.R. 24.9; however, completing the training in no way guarantees appointment as a Guardian ad Litem. Appointments are at the discretion of the Court and each judicial circuit may have its own unique training requirements in addition to the Basic Training offered here. Please check with the Court Administrator in your circuit.
  • All cancellations and requests for refunds of registration must be received in writing and postmarked or emailed by August 15, 2025 to receive a full refund, less a $75.00 administrative fee. Absolutely no refunds will be granted after August 15, 2025.
  • Requests for refunds should be sent to Georgia Guardians ad Litem, Inc. (GA GALS) c/o Brandy Daswani 2440 Sandy Plains Road, Bdlg 27 Ste 100, Marietta, GA 30066.
  • In lieu of a refund, transfer of registration to another person may be done once, at any time, without a fee, upon notification to Georgia Guardians ad Litem, Inc. at admin@gagals.org.
  • We also reserve the right to cancel the event because of good-faith concerns with respect to the safety, health, or welfare of the attendees and staff, or in the unlikely event that inadequate enrollment makes it economically impractical to host the event. 
  • We reserve the right to modify or change the agenda as may be necessary. Every reasonable effort will be made to operate programs as planned, but alterations may occur due to unforeseen circumstances.
